EDWARDSBURG, MI- Wilma Jean Sanders, 83, of Edwardsburg, died Thursday August 25, 2022, at her residence in Edwardsburg.  She was born December 10, 1938, in Elizabethton, TN to George & Veona (Nave) Carden.

     On September 8, 1961, in Elkhart, IN she married Freddie E. Sanders.  He preceded her in death on September 22, 1994, in Edwardsburg, MI.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, 4 brothers, Raymond Carden, Donald Carden, Earnest Glenn Carden, Howard Allen Carden and a sister, Shirley Ann Turner.

     Wilma is survived by 2 sisters, Joyce Carden-Taylor of Lenoir, NC, Janice Holt of Johnson City, TN; 2 nephews, Kevin Turner of South Bend, IN, Tim Turner of Bangor, MI; 1 great-niece, Shelbie L. Turner of Edwardsburg, MI; a great-nephew, Trey Turner of Elkhart and 1 great great niece, Hannah Turner of Edwardsburg, MI.  She is also survived by her pet chicken, “Coffee”.

     Wilma graduated from high school in Johnson City, TN.  She enjoyed working in her garden, baking and bird watching.  She worked for Whitehall Laboratories and retired from Crown International.

     Funeral services for Wilma will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday August 29, 2022, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Pastor Keith McFarren will preside, and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family for 1 hour prior to the start of the service.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army.
