WASILY B. SUKOW

January 12, 1928 – September 5, 2023

ELKHART- Wasily B. Sukow, 95, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023. He was born on January 12, 1928 in Ukraine to the late Leonty and Eudkoia Sukow. On August 12, 1972 he married Tamara L. Sukow.

Survivors include 5 children, Alla (Larry) Whitaker of Elkhart, Anthony (HyeSuk) Lubarsky of Goshen, Tatiana Boling of Elkhart, Andrew (Amy) Sukow of Charlotte, FL and Gregory Sukow of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Walter Lubarsky, daughter, Switlana Wells, his brother, Nickoli Sukow, and his grandson, Jeremy Whitaker.

He was employed as a draftsman for several years and helped to design several buildings in the Elkhart area including the current location of the Elkhart Police Station. He spent his working days building a life for his kids to enjoy and in retirement enjoyed all that he had built with his grandkids and great grandchildren. He enjoyed Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts games on the weekends. He was an avid gardener all the way up until the day that he passed. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm and 1 hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, September 11, 2023 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, IN. 46516. Fr. Raphael Tatros will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County in memory of Wasily.
