Thomas J. Szerencse

August 12, 1950-October 25, 2025

ELKHART-Thomas J. Szerencse, 75, passed away October 25, 2025 at his home in Elkhart.  He was born August 12, 1950, in Mishawaka, IN.

  On June 9, 1973 he married Trudy Ackley; she survives along with 3 daughters, Toni (Troy) Stinson, Tami (Dylan) Gilbert, Tracy (Jason) Davis, 5 grandchildren, Alex, Hayes, Harry, Nora, Theo and a sister, Joyce Wickham.

  He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Szerencse, father, Joseph Szerencse, and stepmother, Margaret Meyer.

  Thomas worked for Crown International for almost 50 years until his retirement in 2016.  He was also a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, collected and admired model trains, bowled in a league, often used his Ham radio, and did photography.  Thomas was a lifelong Notre Dame fan, a loyal family man, and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.   His presence will be deeply missed by all of them.

  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.   Additional visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 11 a.m.  Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church on Friday, October 31, 2025.  Immediately following the Mass will be a luncheon and burial will take place after in St. Vincent Cemetery.    Presiding will be Father Bob Van Kempen.

 Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church.
