Tammy Lynn Baker

December 23, 1960 - January 4, 2024

ELKHART- Tammy Lynn Baker, 63, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away Thursday January 4, 2024, at her residence in Elkhart. She was born December 23, 1960, in Elkhart, Indiana to Eldon Leroy & Linda Ann (Eash) Squibb.

   On October 15, 1989, in Elkhart, Indiana she married Michael L. Baker.  He survives along with a son, Keith M. (Lisa) Baker and 2 grandchildren, Landon Baker, and Lydia Baker all of Granger, IN.  Additional survivors include her mother, Linda Ann Squibb, 2 brothers, Stephen Squibb, and Jay (Pam) Squibb all of Elkhart, 2 sisters Julie (Kevin) Clark of Marcellus, MI, and Jodie Squibb of Middlebury and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon L. Squibb.

     Tammy graduated in 1979 from Jimtown High School where she was a member of the Student Council, the Jimtown National Honor Society and she played varsity tennis and powder puff football.  Tammy was an advanced water scuba diver, enjoyed traveling and camping in the upper peninsula of Michigan and in Tennessee.  She played city softball for many years, enjoyed bowling, and played in a women’s golf league. She and Mike loved diving together in the Florida Keys, Jamacia, Aruba, and the Bahamas.

     Tammy was a dispatcher for the Elkhart County 911 Center from 1986- 1995.

She received her associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 2010 and worked for Doctor Weldy in Wakarusa from 2010 -2012.  She and Mike then moved to Tennessee in 2012 and then returned to Elkhart in 2016.  After returning to Elkhart, she went to work for Jayco in the Engineering Department.

     Cremation will take place and a celebration of life gathering will be held at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home on Thursday January 11, 2024, from 2-4 p.m.  Randy Yohn will render the celebration service for Tammy starting at 4 p.m.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society, Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
