Switlana “Sweet” Wells

February 16, 1953 – December 12, 2021

ELKHART- Switlana “Sweet” Wells, 68, of Elkhart, died Sunday December 12, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.  She was born February 16, 1953, in Caracas, Venezuela to Alexander and Tamara (Hoffert) Lubarsky.

     On October 23, 1971, she married Hugh E. “Joe” Wells.  He preceded her in death on February 7, 2018.  Surviving are 2 daughters, Tamara A. (Todd) Snodgrass of Elkhart, Tatiana A. (Matthew) Schalliol of South Bend; 3 grandchildren, Hunter (Micaela) Schalliol of Plymouth, IN, Hannah Snodgrass of Elkhart, Emma Schalliol of South Bend; 5 siblings, Anthony (HyeSuk) Lubarsky of Goshen, Alla (Larry) Whitaker, Tatiana Boling both of Elkhart, Andrew (Amy) Sukow of FL and Gregory Sukow of Elkhart.  Additional survivors include her stepfather, Basil Sukow, her sister-in-law Lisa Lubarsky both of Elkhart and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Lubarsky, her mother, Tamara Sukow, her husband Joe, a brother, Walter Lubarsky and a brother-in-law, Craig Boling.

     Sweet graduated from Elkhart High School in 1971 and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, gardening, landscaping, and taking care of her many plants and flowers.  She also enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family.  She will be dearly missed, and she was loved by all who knew her.

Sweet worked at Williams Products and for Kroger at the Pierre Moran store, but most recently was a homemaker.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Funeral services for Sweet will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday December 17, 2021, at the funeral home.

Pastor John Hogsett from Faith United Methodist Church will preside, and she will be buried next to her husband Joe at Prairie Street Cemetery.
