SUSAN LEE HOOGENBOOM

                                                                                                            December 20, 1946 – October 16, 2022

ELKHART- Susan Lee Hoogenboom, 75, passed away Sunday October 16, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital.  She was born December 20, 1946, in Elkhart, Indiana to Wilson & Nellie (Jimison) Chaney.

     On September 16, 2007, in Goshen, Indiana she married Roger K. Hoogenboom.  He preceded her in death on January 25, 2022, in Elkhart, Indiana.  Surviving is her son, Michael James (Jacque) Shepherd of Granger, IN; her daughter-in-law, Jamie Kay Shepherd of Edwardsburg, MI; her grandchildren, Alexis Shepherd, Alexandria Bigler, Brianna Shepherd, Mikayla Shepherd and her great-granddaughter, Guinevere Bates.  Also surviving is a stepson, Marc (Amy) Crawford of San Diego, CA, 2 step-grandchildren, Olivia & Darin Crawford and her sister, Nancy (Robert) Bruscato of Chicago, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, her son, Lance Shepherd and her sister, Wanda Cooper.

     Susan was employed as a group leader at HomeCrest (Now MasterBrand) in Goshen from 1997-2009.  Susan was a member of the Greene Road Church in Goshen, and she enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She dearly loved her cat “Sassy”.

     Cremation will take place and there will be a celebration of life at the VFW in Goshen on Saturday November 5th from 2-6 pm.   Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
