GOSHEN-Steven Andrew Dickson came into this world on March 5th 1953, the same year the first Chevrolet Corvette rolled off the production line.
On September 16th, 1973, he married his lifelong love, Gail Custer; she survives along with their two children, Steven (Diana) Dickson and Andrea (Antwan) McGaw. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Dylan Dickson, Andrew Whitmer, Ava Whitmer, 4 siblings, Donna Metz, Lynn (Michael) Dickson, James Dickson, Patricia Dickson and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Dickson, mother Martha Emmons, and a brother, William Dickson.
In November of 1987 Steve’s loving sister, Lynn gave him a kidney after a battle with kidney disease. That was very successful.
Shortly after retiring from almost 40 years of being a locomotive engineer for a thankless railroad, Steve had to have a lung transplant, which he received in November of 2019. The man was made up of spare parts.
Steve was an avid Chevy Corvette collector, enjoyed flower gardening, and attending a weekly breakfast with his R.R. comrades. He loved his wife, his family and would give you the shirt off of his back. He is remembered fondly by many and will be missed greatly.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.
