Stephen "Steve" R. Thalheimer

Stephen Thalheimer, age 71, of Elkhart IN passed away on Monday August 7th, 2023, in his home. Stephen was born February 4,1952 in Elkhart Indiana, the son of John and Myrtle Thalheimer.   He was united in marriage to Jane (Abner) Thalheimer on December 5th,1969 in Corinth, Miss.  He is survived by his sons Scott Thalheimer of Elkhart IN and Quinn (Holly) Thalheimer of Aurora, IL.  And his 3 grandchildren, Taylor 15, Connor 13 and Kendall 8.  He is also survived by his 3 sisters, Patty (Steve) Stump of White Pigeon, MI, Linda (Jerry) Irvin of Elkhart, IN and Mary (Michael) Wilson of Elkhart, IN.  And his 3 brothers, John (Sandy) Thalheimer of Bristol, IN, Michael Thalheimer of Elkhart, IN and Tom Thalheimer of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane Thalheimer, his parents John and Myrtle Thalheimer, and his sister Therese Fielder. 

Stephen worked at Vincent Bach, in Elkhart for 35 years prior to his retirement.  He was a member of the VFW and the Moose for most of his adult life.  He loved riding dirt bikes with his dad and brothers.  They also enjoyed snowmobiling as often as possible.  As his son’s grew up he enjoyed coaching their little league teams.  One of the biggest enjoyments of Steve’s life was the several years he was the mechanic of his son Quinn’s go-karts.  They traveled all over the U.S. in many different states racing.   Friends and family may gather for a Celebration of Life at the Omega Event Center, 2130 Middlebury St., Elkhart, IN., on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home 700 E. Jackson Blvd. Elkhart, IN 46516, has been entrusted with his arrangements.
