Stanley R. Swinehart

September 1, 1935 – June 6, 2023

ELKHART- Stanley R. Swinehart, 87, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at Elkhart General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.  Stanley was born on September 1, 1935, in Elkhart, Indiana to Eldon and Erma (Fetter) Swinehart.

  On September 5, 1958, he married the love of his life, Dixie L. Stutzman.  She survives along with his son Mark (Bonnie) Swinehart, his daughter Theresa “Terri” (Kevin) Schlabaugh.  3 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren and 1 great- great-grandson.

  Preceding him in death were his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.  Stanley was a lifelong resident of Elkhart and retired from Reese Products after 39 years. He loved all kinds of fishing, and even did a few bass fishing tournaments in his day.  He enjoyed working in his yard and keeping it in top shape.  He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.  He loved being with his family and spending as much time with them as he could. 

  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  There will be a Graveside Service Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Bill Zimmerman will be officiating the service.

  In lieu of flowers you may donate to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or the American Lung Association.   Walley Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, Indiana is handling the arrangements and has been entrusted with his care.
