SHARON MARIE WHIPPEN

September 4, 1946 – September 5, 2021

 

 

ELKHART- Sharon Marie Whippen, 75, of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday September 5, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.  Her death was very unexpected, but due to natural causes.

     Sharon was born September 4, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio to Omar R. and Gladys W. Mabry who have preceded her in death.  She is survived by her brother, Richard (Linda) Mabry of Ohio.  She has 4 children Barbara (William) Henderson of Bigelow, AR, Charles (Annalyn) Whippen of Jacksonville, FL, Kim (Terry) Wininger of Elkhart, IN, Deborah (Matt) Wankee of Angola, IN.  She also has 8 grandchildren, Brianna, Aurora, Chandra, Andrew, Sylvia Moon, Mackenzie, William, and Trevor and 2 great grandchildren Paisley and Penelope.

     Sharon retired from AMTRAK.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved cats and was always taking care of any strays that came by her home.  She also had a love of reading and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes.  She greatest joy was cooking Christmas dinner for her family.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

     Per her wishes she will be cremated, and her cremains will be buried with her parents at Willow Cemetery in Oregon, Ohio at a later date.  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.  There will be a celebration of her life held on Friday, September 10, 2021, for family and friends at her residence in Elkhart.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice or to any feral cat shelter.
