Russell Lee Johnson

ELKHART- Russell L. Johnson, 76, of Elkhart, passed away Friday November 18, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.

He was born November 18, 1946, in Warsaw, Indiana to Aubra K. & Loah J. (Fleck) Johnson

     On January August 25, 1979, in Elkhart he married Phyllis A. Masterman.  She preceded him in death on January 6, 2018, in Elkhart.  Surviving are 3 children, Jeremey “Jerry” (Shawn) Johnson of Elkhart, IN, Joni Johnson, and Jeff Johnson both of Edwardsburg, MI.

Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren: 5 great-grandchildren and 4 siblings, Al Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska, Steve Johnson of Reno, NV, Kay Johnson, and Loretta Zimmerman both of Grand Rapids, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sherry.

     Russ was the former owner of Howard’s Auto Service in Elkhart.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, golfing, and visiting the local casinos.  Russ served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge.

     In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or services.  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
