Ronald Schemenauer Obituary

ELKHART- Ronald I. Schemenauer, 80, of Elkhart, died Saturday August 19, 2017 at his home. He was born June 22, 1937 in Bangor, Michigan to Henry Harold & Kathryn (Thornton) Schemenauer. On June 16, 1956 in Lacota, Michigan he married Phyllis J. Thomas. She survives along with 4 children, Ronald (Deborah) Schemenauer, Elizabeth Sorg both of Elkhart, Steven (Kelly) Schemenauer, and David (Crystal) Schemenauer both of Bristol; eleven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Ron served in the National Guard during the Cuban missile crisis for 8 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Union and a member of the Mizpah Shrine. Ron enjoyed golfing, working in his yard and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ron was an entrepreneur, and was the owner of Travelwood Trailer Sales, Sherwood Industries and Accessories by Sherwood. Funeral services celebrating Ron's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 23, 2017 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery where the Elkhart DAV Chapter #19 will render full military honors. Friends may visit with the family for 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
