RONALD WAYNE BOWERS

March 28, 1951 – November 5, 2021

ELKHART- Ronald Wayne Bowers, 70, of Elkhart, passed away Friday November 5, 2021, at Elkhart General Hospital from an apparent heart attack. He was born March 28, 1951, in Elkhart, Indiana to Albert Luther and Dorothy Ella (Nellist) Bowers.

     On October 4, 1986, in Elkhart, Indiana he married Lori J. Tarnacy. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2019, in Elkhart, Indiana. Surviving are 3 sisters, Charlotte Shroeder of Granger, IN, Carol (Gary) Salyer of Warsaw, IN and Martha Bowers of Elkhart, IN; numerous nieces and nephews and his brother-in-law, Joseph Tarnacy of Elkhart.

     Ron graduated in 1970 from Elkhart High School and entered the US Army.  He served from 1971 till 1974 and was honorably discharged. Ron worked at LaSalle-Bristol from 1974 till 2009 and was currently employed at PerMar Security Services and dearly loved his job there.

   He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and a member of the Bristol American Legion Post #143. Ron also was an avid New York Yankee fan and an avid Pittsburgh Steeler football fan. He also was a great fan of IU sports.

    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 10, 2021, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor John Hogsett from Faith United Methodist Church will preside, and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. Friends may visit with the family for 2 hours prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
