November 21, 1944 - December 27, 2021

 

Roger Paul Hartman, 77, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:57 p.m. Monday, December 27, in Mishawaka

at the home of his son Tim, where he was peacefully surrounded by family members who prayed and sang him across the finish line to his eternal home with Jesus.

  He was born November 21, 1944, in Elkhart, to Richard S. Hartman and Doris (Emmans) Hartman.  On May 11, 1963, in Elkhart he married Janice Elaine Geairn.

  Roger is survived by three sons, Michael (Tina) Hartman of Elkhart; Timothy (Monica) Hartman of Mishawaka; and David (Paula) Hartman of Elkhart,  nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  Also surviving are a sister; Theresa (Terry) Hundall of Hawthorne, Florida; and two brothers, Glen Hartman of Philadelphia , PA and Richard (Susan) Hartman of Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a grandson.

  Roger loved Jesus and was a dedicated member of Jimtown Family Church of the Nazarene where he served on the board and as a Sunday school teacher.  He found joy in taking his grandchildren, great grandchildren and neighbor kids to Sunday school and Wednesday, evening kids’ club.  He loved camping and adventuring outdoors with his boys when they were growing up in Scouts.  He spent countless hours watching his sons, grandsons and great grandsons wrestle for Jimtown schools and wrestling clubs; watching Jimtown High School football; and spending time with his beloved family.  Roger graduated from Elkhart High School in 1962 and retired from the RV industry.

  A Celebration of Life will be held, Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Jimtown Family Church of the Nazarene, 56773 Shore Ave., Elkhart IN 46516. Visitation will be from 2:00p.m.~3:00 p.m. with service at 3:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be given to Jimtown Family Church of the Nazarene.
