Rodney King Obituary
Rodney (Rob) King, 62, of Elkhart IN, was called home Wednesday, July 31st 2024, surrounded
by loved ones after a 6-year-long health battle.
He was born in Elkhart, IN on August 1st, 1961 to Larry “Bud” King and Jacqueline (Olmstead)
King.
He worked as an automotive painter for several years, where his work was featured in a variety
of magazines. Rob also spent over 20 years as a flooring specialist, among other occupations,
and could fix almost anything. There wasn’t much that he couldn’t do, and he took great pride in
all of his work. He enjoyed fishing and camping, line dancing, spending time with grandkids, and
shared a very special bond with his grandson, Korey.
Rob was an incredible cook and an avid antique collector. When he wasn’t enjoying those
things, you could find him sipping coffee watching the GRIT Channel, as he loved everything
country western. When he was younger, he was always somewhere riding his Harley, with that
being one of his final desires before he passed.
Rodney is survived by his three children: Erin King (38), Patrick King (37), and Alexandra King
(34), 6 grandchildren, Karsyn (14), Korey (11), Addilyn (8), Vera (5), Kase (5) and Rory (2),
along with 2 brothers (Mike King, Buddy King) and his mother. From his previous marriage of 25
years, Rob gained 2 bonus daughters (Angie Pontius McClane, Jenni Learman), 8
grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Preceding him in death are his father, Larry King, and sister Tracy King Gaskill.
Robs children want him to be remembered as a man of good faith and humor, God fearing, hard
working, and generous. They ask everyone who loved him to please be reminded of the
unwavering strength, bravery, and perseverance he displayed through not only his final battles,
but his entire life. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18th, 2024 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral home
