Robert "Bob" Henke Obituary

Robert “Bob” E. Henke, 62, of Goshen, died surrounded by his loved ones on Friday September 10, 2021 at his home in Goshen. Bob was known to many by many different names. His dear wife, Deborah Kay (Carter) Henke, would lovingly call him “Bobby”. His children, R. Matthew (Mindy) Henke, Rolling Prairie, IN; Carrie Lynn (Lance) Ludwig, Mishawaka, IN; Katie (Brad)Paulus, Wakarusa, IN; Corrie (Marc) Disher, Goshen, IN lovingly called him “The Bob Father”. Friends, coworkers, and others who knew him simply knew him as “Big Bob”. Perhaps, though, his favorite name of all that his nine grandchildren (Seth and Lydia Henke; Lincoln Ludwig; Colton, Sadie, Quinton, and Bella Paulus; Evelyn and Scarlett Disher) called him was “Pop Bob”.

Bob was born on March 22, 1959 in Chicago, IL to Ruben William and Marge (Ratliff) Henke who both have preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his sisters (Vickie Cash, Sodonia Henke, and Lori O’Conner).

The Bob Father was a member of Sugar Grove Church in Goshen and loved the Lord with everything he had. Even in pain, Bob loved his savior Jesus Christ. His love for Jesus was evident in all his works and set such a great example for his children. Bob’s love for Jesus carried over to his family and friends. Although, his large stature made him stand out in a crowd, what made him memorable was that his heart was even bigger.

Bob’s work ethic was second to none. He showed his love by laboring and providing. For the majority of his life, he worked two jobs. He was a lineman and worked for GTE, Verizon and Direct Line Communications. When that job was done, he would come home and run his tree business, Bob’s Tree Service. Upon retirement, he spent his days enjoying woodworking, his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife.

We as a family are missing him dearly, but also celebrating the fact that Bob is resting comfortably in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday September 17, 2021, at the Sugar Grove Church, 58512 Old County Road 17, Goshen, IN.  Funeral services for Bob will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday September 18, 2021, at the church.  Pastor Tony Tice will preside.  Burial will be private for family only at Stutzman Cemetery in Goshen.  Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
