ROBERT LEE DOOLITTLE

August 9, 1939 – December 22, 2022

GOSHEN- Robert Lee Doolittle, 83, of Goshen, passed away Thursday December 22, 2022, at Goshen Hospital.  He was born August 9, 1939, in Elkhart, Indiana to Ralph & Hazel (Robinson) Doolittle.

     On January 15, 1972, in Dowagiac, MI he married Alice Irene Johnson.  She preceded him in death on September 7, 2004, in Goshen, IN.  surviving are 2 children, Robert E. (Tina) Doolittle of Bristol, IN, Rebecca L. Doolittle of Elkhart, IN; 1 stepdaughter, Darlene I. Silk of Elkhart, IN; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and 1 on the way.  Also surviving is his special friend and caregiver, Amanda Alarcon.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice and his sister, Fran Wilson.

     Robert was a US Navy veteran and a member of the Goshen American Legion.

He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, gun, and knife collecting, was a member of the Bristol Posse and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Goshen.  Robert was formerly employed at Star Craft in Topeka for many years.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday December 29, 2022, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday December 30, 2022, at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Goshen.  Friends may visit with the family for 1 hour prior to the mass at the church.  Presiding over the mass will be Fr. Logan Parrish and burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery in Elkhart where full military honors will be rendered.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
