Richard G. Lavery

Richard G. Lavery, 89, passed away June 9, 2021 in Elkhart.  He was born March 16, 1932 in Elkhart to William & Wilma (Lintz) Lavery.

On August 8, 1953 in Elkhart he married Doris Packer; she survives along with 3 children, Deborah Armstead, Joni Lavery, William (Michelle) Lavery, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, son-in-law, David Raber and his sister Helen Doncilovic.  

  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cheryl Raber, brother, Robert Lavery and son-in-law, Bob Armstead.

  Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving stateside during the Korean War, former owner of Laro Corp. and an owner of several Arby’s Roast Beef Restaurants, a member of the Moose Lodge #599 and the American Legion #365 in Edwardsburg.  Richard knew how to brighten up a room, enjoy life to the fullest, have a good time and loved to sing.

  There will be a gathering of family and friends Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 1-3 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.
