REX LEE MELLINGER

November 22, 1950 – April 19, 2025

ELKHART, IN- Rex Lee Mellinger, 74, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday April 19, 2025, at his residence in Elkhart.  He was born November 22, 1950, in Bremen, Indiana to Paul & Ruth (Ganger) Mellinger.

     He married Linda Diane Pontius on January 31, 1970, in Jimtown, Indiana.  She preceded him in death on August 2, 2022, in Elkhart, Indiana.

Surviving are 2 sons, Jeremy L. (Catherine Eggleston) Mellinger of Elkhart, IN, Timothy L. (Heather) Mellinger of Brimfield, IN; 3 grandchildren, Alexis Mellinger, Dayton Mellinger, Gabriel Kauffman; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 brother, Tom Mellinger of Elkhart.

     Rex was a retired truck driver who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and attending various functions at his church.  Rex attended Bristol Community Church, First Baptist Church and was an amateur radio operator.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. till Noon on Thursday April 24, 2025, at the Bristol Community Church, 201 S. Division Street, Bristol, IN 46507.  Funeral services will start at Noon at the church will Pastor Gary Lewis residing.  Burial will follow in Olive (West) Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Linda.

     Memorial contributions may be given to Bristol Community Church.  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
