RAYMOND J. HERSHBERGER

May 25, 1948 – September 1, 2022

ELKHART- Raymond J. Hershberger, 74, of Elkhart, died Thursday September 1, 2022, at Majestic Care in Goshen.  He was born May 25, 1948, in Goshen, Indiana to Herschel & Rosa (Davidson) Hershberger.

     On January 31, 1970, he married Sue E. Meredith.  She preceded him in death on February 1, 2011.  Surviving are 2 sons, Jay D. Hershberger of Goshen, and Brad F. Hershberger of Elkhart: 8 grandchildren, Damon Hershberger, Jordan Hershberger, Aiden Hershberger, Alyssa Hershberger, Ashton Hershberger, Ethan Hershberger, Makena Hershberger, and Braylin Hershberger.  Additional survivors include 3 siblings, Eliza (Larry) Jones of Syracuse, IN, Barb Fry of Goshen and Evelyn Miller of Elkhart and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sue.

     Raymond was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.  He enjoyed golfing, watching golf on TV and collecting anything golf.  He also had a very extensive poker chip collection which he collected over the years.  Raymond retired from Gaska Tape.

     In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held on Friday September 23, 2022 at 4pm at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Vale from the First United Methodist Church in Middlebury will preside and Full military honors will follow the service. Friends may visit with the family from 2pm-4pm at the funeral home. 

     Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
