Randall “Randy” Lee Shaffer

October 25, 1957 – June 22, 2023

ELKHART- Randall “Randy” Lee Shaffer, 65, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday June 22, 2023, at Valley View Health Care Center in Elkhart.  He was born October 25, 1957, in Elkhart, Indiana to Wendell Lee & Olga Fay (Barrick) Shaffer.

     On April 12, 1989, in Elkhart, Indiana he married Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Stackhouse.  She preceded him in death on April 26, 2010, in Elkhart, Indiana.

Surviving are 2 sons, Derek R. (Amanda) Shaffer of Winchester, TN, Sean D. (Jonathan Harper) Shaffer of Atlanta, GA; 3 grandchildren, Eli W. Shaffer, Brayden T. Shaffer, Jaxon E. Shaffer and his parents, Wendell L. & Olga Fay Shaffer of Elkhart.  As well as 5 siblings, Bob (Denny) Shaffer of SC, Doug (Tina) Shaffer of Elkhart, IN, Deb (Mike) Lecklider of Indianapolis, IN, Carla (Tom) Pontius of Elkhart, IN, Karen (Jeff) Nicholas of FL and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Beth” Stackhouse Shaffer, his grandparents, Pearl (Barrick) Nagy, and Robert and Pearl (Shaffer) Nusbaum, his best friend Marty Smith and his wife’s parents, Jean Stackhouse, and Richard “Dick” Stackhouse.

     Randy was a salesman of cars and RV’s, in Elkhart for many years and retired from Kryder’s Lawn Mower Sales in Elkhart where he worked for 12 years.

He enjoyed sports, listening to the radio, fishing, golfing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, Green Bay Packers fan, IU Hoosiers fan and Notre Dame fan.  He won the state championship in fast pitch softball in 1990 and went to the Nationals in California.  Randy also coached the Cleveland Little League and was a member of the board.  He helped maintain the grounds.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. till the service time at 1:00 p.m. Friday June 30, 2023, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
