PHYLLIS A."ABBIE" PYTYNIA
August 11, 1947 - July 31, 2023
Phyllis A. " Abbie" Pytynia, 75, passed away July 31, 2023, at Center for Hospice Care, Esther's House, in Elkhart, Indiana after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Ameagle, West Virginia on August 11, 1947, to Phillip and Anna Ruth (Elschide) Mullins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Aaron K. Wright and a Brother-In-Law, Jerry W. Morehouse.
Surviving are two children, Robert P. "Bob" King and James J. Pytynia, five grandchildren, Robert King, Ryne Wright, Claire Wright, Angelica English and Brett A Irving, and one grandchild, Jameson Irving. Also surviving are two siblings, Freda Morehouse and Ginny (Dave) Lacefield.
Abbie enjoyed crafting and had a great knack for decorating her home. She was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren and her sisters. She was a sweetheart and most generous and always putting everyone else first. She lit up the room when she walked in and was a true friend to many. Abbie was so passionate about her family. If anyone would try to "mess" with them, they better watch out for Mama Abbie! She was the same with her many friends. Her passing will leave a tremendous void.
Abbie and her family moved to Elkhart in January 1955. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1966 and studied at Purdue University. She moved to Michigan City, Indiana until returning to Elkhart in 2015. Abbie worked at various jobs throughout her life, with the most recent being a steelworker at ArcelorMittal. She retired from there in 2015 and moved back to Elkhart to be close to her family. She was one of a kind, our solid rock....
Per her wishes cremation will take place and the family has chosen a different pathway to celebrate her life. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman has been entrusted with her care.
