Maylan M. Hobday

Maylan M. Hobday, 66, passed away November 16, 2022, at his home in Elkhart.  He was born November 12, 1956, in Niagara Falls, NY to Maylan & Barbara (Avery) Hobday.

  On June 24, 1989, in Union City, MI he married Tina Simmons; she survives along with his mother, Barbara Hobday, 6 children, Lynsey Hobday, Josh (Charlene) Hobday, Heather Scholl, Cassandra (Peter) Eddy, Nathaniel (Rebekah) Scholl, Elizabeth (David) Arroyo and 13 grandchildren.  Also surviving are 3 siblings, David (Donna) Hobday, Kenneth (Rebecca) Hobday, and Cathleen (David) Taylor.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Maylan Hobday.

  Maylan graduated from Union City High School in 1975 and worked at Kobelco Compressors for over 25 years until his retirement.  Maylan grew up black powder shooting with his family and carried on that tradition into adulthood with his own family.  He never stayed still and had many hobbies throughout his life including, racing R.C. cars, bowling, golfing, collecting classic cars, being a motorcycle enthusiast, and could often be found tinkering in the garage.  Above all one of his favorite things to do was to go fishing with his children and grandchildren. 

  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Additional visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. celebration of life service Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the funeral home. 

  Memorial contributions may be given to the family C/O Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home to help offset expenses.
