Mary V. Martin

February 27, 1934 - February 20, 2024

On Feb. 20th, 2024, Mary V. Martin went home to be with our heavenly Father.

She was born in Big Sandy, TN. in 1934 to James W. Fuzzell and Sarah Nell (Bomar) Swoveland.

  In 1951 she married Donald R. Martin at Trinity United Methodist Church on 2nd St. in Elkhart, IN.

  She leaves behind her Husband of 72 years, Donald R. Martin

Two daughters Karen & Rick Freedline, and Wanda & Frank Cataldo

4 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, and sister Carolyn Butler.

Her parents, son, Brent J. Martin, and sister Ruth Bachman preceded her in death.

  She worked for many years at Miles Laboratory before becoming a Homemaker raising her children, and later went on to work as a Nurses Asst. for EGH, and later Aacoa.

  She was a Bible School Teacher at Hillcrest United Methodist Church.

A Shepherd for the underprivileged children at St. Paul United Methodist,

and a Homeroom Mother for the elementary schools.

  She was a member for many yrs. at Hillcrest United Methodist Church teaching her children God's love, and grace. Later in life her and her husband attended Trinity United Methodist Church.

   We would like to give a special thanks to Laura, Serena, & Jenelle w/Heart to Heart Hospice, and our Angel Jacob from ICU.

  Services for Mary will be Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home 700 East Jackson Blvd, Elkhart, Indiana at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Heart-to-Heart Hospice or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
