Mary E. Foster

  Mary E. Foster, 90, passed away May 23, 2021 at Primrose Memory Care in Anderson, IN.  She was born October 4, 1930 in Elkhart, IN to Angelo & Angeline (Finuto) Rossi.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Timothy Foster, 1 grandson, Patrick Lerner, and 4 siblings, Joe Rossi, John  Rossi, Lillian Kiebel and Edith Gardner.

  Surviving are 5 children, Pamela (Wally) VanRie, Julie (Randy) Moss, Cathy (Jagadey) Skipper, Sidney Foster, Carolyn Queener, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Tony Rossi and 1 daughter-in-law Christine Foster.

  Mary graduated in 1949 and began working for the telephone company as a switchboard operator.  She later worked for Holy Cross Health Systems in South Bend, where she retired from in 2000.  Mary was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Daughter’s of Isabella, volunteered for funeral dinners at the church and was a member of Three Mary’s singing in Ft. Wayne.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, singing, jewelry making, and watching the swans at her house on the river in Elkhart.

  Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. at

Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m.   A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.  Presiding will be Father Craig Borchard.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart or the Alzheimer’s Association.
