ELKHART-Marie E. Lidy, 89, passed away September 22, 2020 at Green House Village in Goshen.  She was born August 5, 1931 in Chicago to James Michael & Marie T. (Hooley) McCabe. 

  On November 7, 1953 in Chicago she married Joseph H. Lidy; he preceded her in death on December 6, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kimberly Anne Toothaker, several precious grandchildren and 2 siblings, James McCabe and Denise McCabe.

  Surviving are 3 children, Joseph James (Darlene) Lidy, Marie Louise (Allen) Kidder, Steven Michael (JJ) Lidy, 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is 1 brother, Robert “Mike” (Maureen) McCabe and numerous nieces and nephews. 

  Visitation will be held from 11:00 -1:00 p.m. with a 1:00 p.m.

  Mass of Christian Burial Friday, October 2, 2020 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. 

  Marie received her business degree from DePaul University.  She enjoyed her job working as a bookkeeper and office manager for Bueter’s Sewing Center for over 20 years.  She had a real talent for accounting and was known for being a perfectionist with her day to day activities as well.   Marie was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church and a devoted Catholic.  She had a lifelong friendship with a group of ladies known as the “Visitation Girls” from St. Sabina’s Church in Chicago.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing bridge and spending time with her family.  Marie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 

  Presiding will be Father Bob Van Kempen and burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bristol. 

  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. 

 Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
