Margaret Ellen “Midge” Mitschelen

May 20, 1938 – August 9, 2021

 

 

WAKARUSA, IN- Margaret Ellen “Midge” Mitschelen, 83, of Wakarusa, passed away Monday August 9, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa.  She was born May 20, 1938, in Elkhart to Irvin C. and Margaret L. (Trowbridge) Eslinger.

     On August 26, 1956, in Elkhart she married Glen Earl Mitschelen.  He preceded her in death on August 30, 2001, in Elkhart.  Surviving are 4 children, Brian A. (Rachel) Mitschelen of Wakarusa, Gary E. Mitschelen, Lisa L. Mitschelen, Julie A. DuVall all of Elkhart; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 siblings, Steven E. (Kay) Eslinger of State College, PA, and Sandra K. (Bill) Taylor of Elkhart.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen,  granddaughter Sara, step-mom Rebecca Lounette (Pope) Eslinger and a brother Thomas Eslinger.

     Midge graduated in 1956 from Concord High School.  She enjoyed doing crafts and playing dominos with her friends at Miller’s Merry Manor.  Midge worked at G.L. Perry Variety Store in Elkhart for 9 years as a bookkeeper and most recently was a homemaker.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday August 13, 2021, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home and for 1 hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. Saturday Funeral Service at the funeral home.  Pastor Jason Rohde from Nappanee Missionary Church will be presiding.  Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery. Margaret will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

     Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice.
