LELA MAE NEELY

January 19, 1929 – January 31, 2021

ELKHART- Lela Mae Neely, 92, of Elkhart, died Sunday January 31, 2021 at her home.  She was born January 19, 1929 in Madison County, Alabama to Joe & Rosie (Pruitt) Langstone.

     On January 10, 1946 she married Robert A. Neely, Sr.  He preceded her in death on October 13, 1984.  Surviving are 6 children, Angela Harris, of Elkhart, Troy Neely of Shipshewana, Eric Neely, Michael Neely both of Elkhart, Clyde Garner of Detroit, Allen Jerome Neely of Goshen, 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are numerous great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sons, Robert Neely Jr., Tyrone Garner, Marlon Neely and 2 siblings, Richard, and Olivia Janice.

     Lela was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, coloring, playing cards and board games and spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed going shopping.

     A celebration of life gathering for immediate family will be held on Saturday February 6, 2021 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m.  Masks are required for entry into the funeral home.  There will be a short service at the funeral home starting at 10:30 a.m., and burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
