Larry Ervin Hayes Obituary

Larry Ervin Hayes

March 2, 1948 - April 9, 2024

Larry was born in Elkhart, IN to Shirley and Ervin Hayes (Deceased)

Larry graduated from Elkhart High School in 1966.

Larry attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as a member of the Priesthood and other roles within the Church.  Larry was always a promoter of his faith and was very proud of how the Church affected his life and the lives of his family.

Larry leaves us with the reputation for being one to serve, having roles as a Teammate, Coach, Mentor, Scoutmaster, and Foster Parent affecting many lives of youths in the community and within his church.

Larry’s top priority was to create good times and memories with his family.  He cherished the sound of children’s laughter and the memories of calling them “Good Medicine”.

Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet L Hayes, his children Shirley Renea Covington (Ron Covington), Larry Jackson Hayes (Tina M Hayes), Ryan David Lantz (Jennifer Lantz), Edward Clay Hayes (Tracy Hayes), and Troy Abbott Lantz (Jamie Lantz).  Larry leaves behind 20 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Larry’s Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Elkhart Ward on Saturday April 13th, at 11:00 am.  Address 3415 Pleasant Plain Ave, Elkhart, IN 46517.  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral has been entrusted with his care.
