Kevin C Reed

Kevin “Commissioner” C. Reed, 64 of Elkhart, IN passed away May 1^st 2021 in his home with his family by his side.

Kevin was born December 9^th 1956 in Elkhart, IN to Vaughnless (Taylor) Reed and Lester Reed. He married Cheryl Higgins on August 28^th 2004. She survives along with her son Brian (Shellie) Nagy and Kevin’s 4 son’s and 2 daughters; Jason (Kelly) Reed of Seymour IN, Josh Reed of Elkhart IN, Christian Reed of Clarksburg WV, Megan Reed of Clarksburg WV, Aaron (Kim) Reed of Goshen IN, Kyle (Steffany) Reed of Mishawaka IN. Along with 22 grandchildren Tristan, Mckenzie, Caden, Logan, Keaira, Lucy, Braxton, Samantha, Maliyah, Alexis, Oliver, Kyleigh, Trenton, Zoey, Zander, Anthony, Eve, Easton, Willow, Andrew, Amelia, Woodson and Kevin’s brother Ricky Reed. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Janet, his daughter Ashley and 2 granddaughters Valerie Reed and Annabelle Nagy.

                Kevin was an avid bowler. He bowled in a league twice a week with family and friends and helped out with the high school bowling league where he was able to mentor countless young minds. Kevin is known by many as "The Commissioner" for his dedication to the yearly Forest River softball outing that he organized for several years.  Kevin enjoyed helping with youth sports leagues and watching his kids and grandkids play. If not bowling, playing softball or golfing with his buddies, Kevin was likely at an Irish basketball game where he held season tickets or watching the Cubbies or the Redsox on T.V. Regardless of what he was up to, one thing is certain, he was having fun while doing it. He made an impact on so many lives and always carried a contagious smile. It's no wonder why he was loved by all who knew him. Kevin's witty humor, practical jokes and high-spirited demeanor will be missed by all. He fought long and hard to stay with those he loved. He is now in a better place and free of pain. Gone, but never forgotten. In the words of Kevin Reed, "BOOM BABY"

Visitation will be from 2pm-4pm Wednesday May 5^th at Wally-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral home, Elkhart where a celebration of life will be held at 4pm.
