KATHRYN (CHADDOCK) THORNTON

January 25, 1949 – December 22, 2024

ELKHART- Kathryn (Chaddock) Thornton, 75, of Elkhart, passed away at home December 22, 2024.  She was born in Elkhart, Indiana on January 25, 1949, to Arthur and Shirley Chaddock.  Kathy married Peter S. Thornton on May 6, 1986.  They shared a life of love, faith, and devotion for 38 years.

     She was a disciple of Jesus Christ her entire life and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years.  Kathryn is survived by her husband Peter Thornton of Elkhart, IN; her brother David (Robin) Chaddock of Westfield, IN; her sister Christie Turner of Carlsbad, CA; her sons, Derek (Joni) Light and Johnathon (Aubrie) Thornton, and 3 grandchildren, Drake Light, Gabby Light, and newly born Otto Thornton.

     Kathy was loved and cherished by many and will be remembered for her loving and healing touch, her kindness and generosity, and her profound relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

     A private family celebration of life will be held in January.  Memorial donations for Kathy are kindly requested to Johnathon and Aubrie Thornton, 912 W. Oak Street South, South Bend 46616, in honor of Kathy’s grandson Otto, 3 pounds, born by emergency c section hours before her death.  Mother and baby remain in Memorial Hospital.
