Justin Martese Peet (Minter) 

December 8, 1982 - January 19, 2024

Justin Martese Peet (Minter) was born to the union of Robert and Pamelia Minter on December 8, 1982, in Chicago, IL at Cook County Hospital.

Justin was affectionately called “Basey”, a nickname that was given to him by his older brother, Jason when he was just a baby.  This name will always be remembered by all of his loved ones.

Basey was known for his personality and one-of-a-kind sense of humor.  He could crack jokes and have “roast sessions”, with any of the top comedians on stage.  He had the ability to make anyone laugh and feel better by sharing his gift of laughter with everyone, even when he was facing his own challenges.  Basey also had a protective nature.   He was always looking out for his family and friends.

Basey was always one to speak his mind and give you his honest opinion!  He always stayed real and true to himself and everything he believed in, sharing his wisdom often with all of his nieces and nephews who he loved like his own children.  “One thing’s for sure, and two things for certain”, He would always say this before speaking his mind.  His words were sincere and passionate.  He wrote a collection of rhymes and had dreams of one day working in the music industry.   He also expressed a desire to work with youth, sharing his own life story with them.

Basey believed that God was the reason he had made it through every obstacle.  He was a Christian, and he kept his faith through it all.  We are truly grateful for the short time we had him here on this earth.  He was a blessing to all who knew and loved him.  Justin Martese Peet (Minter) was a true king among men.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved mother and best friend, Pamelia; his father, Robert, Sr., grandmother Ms. Doris, his siblings Renee, Jason, Sherry, Robert, Roberta, Carla, Lena, Nathan, Noel, Naomi; his stepdaughter Ja’Lynn, his nephews and nieces Ike, Tiarra, Jamel, Imani, Steven, Malik, Jamal, Kiana, Shardonnay, Kyrell, Kameron, Jahson, Jayonna, Christian, Nevaeh, Sarah, Christopher, Cairo, Niyah, Alexa; his great-nephews and great-nieces Aalayah (Lay Lay), Amir, Naomi, Makhi, Romeo, Amari, Jakayden, Miles, Arianna, Easton, Londyn. His aunts Jean, Vera, Lydia, Uncles Kem, Danny, David, Steve, Greg, a number of cousins and other loved ones including his friend Crystal, and his pet cat (daughter) Juju (lovingly taken from his mother’s nickname, “Juice”). 

  Justin has been preceded in death by his uncle's Gary, Christopher, Michael Minter, and his aunt Cheryl.
