JUDY MAE (MARTIN) HELBLING

December 17, 1941 – August 26, 2020

ELKHART- Judy Mae (Martin) Helbling, 78, passed away Wednesday August 26, 2020 at her home after a long battle with COPD, dementia, and lung cancer.  She was born December 17, 1941 to Hubert and Irma (Rowe) Martin.  She married James F. Helbling on March 26, 1961.  He was her high school sweetheart since 1955.  They moved from Kilbourn Street in Elkhart, IN in 2010 to the Boardwalk Retirement Community.  In November of 2019 they moved to Brentwood Assisted Living Center of Elkhart.  Judy retired from CTS after 25 years and also worked as a toll road attendant for the Indiana toll road for 6 years after that.

     Surviving are 2 brothers, Mike Martin of Elkhart, IN and Jerry Martin of Tucson, AZ and a sister Kathy Wilcox of Edwardsburg, MI.  One brother, Ron Martin preceded her in death.  Also surviving is her husband James F. Helbling; their three sons, Chris Helbling & (Kristena) of Shalimar, FL, Jeff Helbling & (Lisa) of Bristol and Brian & (Tina) Helbling of Edwardsburg, MI; 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

     Judy was a member of Trinity on Jackson and a former member of St. Johns United Church of Christ.

     Funeral services for Judy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 29, 2020 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Lori Grasty from Trinity on Jackson will preside and entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family for 2 hours prior to the service.

     Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity on Jackson or to Heart to Heart Hospice.
