Judith “Judy” Anne Palmaffy

September 10, 1947-June 10, 2025

STAUNTON, VA — Judith “Judy” Anne Palmaffy, age 77, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Brookdale Staunton Assisted Living Center. She was born September 10, 1947, in Elkhart, Indiana, the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy (Meyers) Shaw.
   Judy was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Christopher Palmaffy.
  She is survived by her son, Scott Stults and his wife, Jane Cooney; and by her grandchildren, Gavin Stults and Margaret Stults.
  Throughout her career, Judy worked as an accountant for Whitehall/Bayer. She had a deep love for animals and rescued many dogs from puppy mills. She also enjoyed bowling in local leagues and was an avid genealogist. Through her family research, she discovered that she was related to one of the founders of the City of Elkhart.

Dear family and friends,
  Judy Palmaffy, my wonderful mother, passed away on Tuesday. She went gently, and I was with her.
  My mom brought kindness and humor everywhere she went. She was inquisitive, patient, and supportive. As her only child, I was the focus of most of that, but there was plenty left over. She loved my friends as much as her own.
  Her favorite hobbies were genealogy and the history of our hometown. At the other end of the spectrum, she was also a technophile. When I was a kid, she took my first programming course alongside me and later helped me build computers for the business she also helped me start.
  Thank you, Mom.

  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, June 20, 2025 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
