September 29, 1946-June 8, 2020
 
MIDDLEBURY-John W. Dempsey, 73, passed away June 8, 2020 at his home in Middlebury, IN.  He was born September 29, 1946 in Elkhart to Howard & Geraldine (Bryarly) Dempsey.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, James Dempsey.
  Surviving are 2 children, Jeffrey (Anna) Dempsey, Stacie Dempsey, 7 grandchildren, Jacob Dempsey, Zakery Dempsey, Bryce Cook, Logan, Alex, Kegan, Lila, 1 great-grandson, Easton and 1 brother, Ron (Tammy) Dempsey.  Also surviving is his former spouse, Linda Dempsey, 1 sister-in-law, Barbara Dempsey, numerous nieces and nephews and 2 friends, Rex Magner and Josh Gerzmehle.
  John was a tool and die maker working at LaVanture Products for 32 years and proudly retiring at the age of 62.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, farming and was an avid outdoorsman.   He was also a Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan.    
  Family was extremely important to John and he was very devoted to his children and grandchildren.  As a father he coached little league and never missed one of their sporting events.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy and they truly meant the world to him. 
  He will be remembered as a simple and great man with a heart of gold. 
  Public visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  A private service and burial will take place at a later date. 
  In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Bristol Little League. 
  Due to COVID regulations masks are required for entry to the funeral home
