ELKHART-John E. Davenport, 92, passed away June 14, 2024, at his home in Elkhart.  He was born March 10, 1932, in Elkhart to Clifford & Esther (Johnson) Davenport.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Jen Davenport, second wife, Janet Davenport, and a brother, George Davenport.

  Surviving is his daughter, Becky (Rick) Christner, 2 grandchildren, Erika Mabie, Tayler Davenport, a great-grandson, Silas, a stepdaughter, Diane Wilson, and a companion, Fay Biddle.

  John worked for IBM for 24 years, Amdahl for 6 years, and Miles for 10 years.  He was proud Korean War Veteran, a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge, the Jacques Cousteau Society, and a member of the NRA.  John enjoyed scuba diving, photography, astronomy, model planes, traveling, archery, tennis, riding his Indian Motorcycle, was a aviation enthusiast and a WWII aircraft expert.   

  Visitation will be held from 11-1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m.  Entombment will follow in Rice Cemetery and presiding will be Sister Nora Frost from Grace Lutheran Church.

  Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Resources of Elkhart County.
