JO MAXINE MARSH

January 4, 1927 – June 1, 2024

ELKHART- Jo Maxine Marsh, 97, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday June 1, 2024, at East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  She was born January 4, 1927, in Kokomo, Indiana to James & Eva (Stahl) Short.

    On August 25, 1946, in Plymouth, Indiana she married Ronald E. Marsh.  He preceded her in death on April 30, 1990, in Elkhart, Indiana.  Surviving are 2 children, James E. Marsh, Sr., of Edwardsburg, MI, Barbara Jo (Stan) Hiebert of Elkhart, IN; 3 grandchildren, Kristy (Charlie) Gibney, Pam (Steve) Noble both of Grandville, MI, James E. Marsh, Jr. of Edwardsburg, MI and 6 great-grandchildren, Jackson Gibney, Grace Gibney, Reagan Noble, Callie Marsh, Waylon Marsh and Jamison Marsh.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

     Maxine was employed at Sears & Roebuck for 35 years, retiring in 2005.  She was a member of the Central Christian Church for 60 years, was the auxiliary commander of DAV # 19 in Elkhart and was a volunteer for the Healthy Living Center at the YMCA for 8 years.  She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, going to the council of aging programs and just being with her family.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. on Saturday June 8, 2024, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Her service will start at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Rev. Dr. Douglas Cripe will render the service and entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the Central Christian Church in memory of Maxine.
