ELKHART- Jayleighana Marie Lamae Mathenia, 5, of Elkhart, died Friday evening November 25, 2022, from injuries suffered in a pedestrian/automobile accident on Cassopolis Street just east of Baldwin Street. 

     She was born November 26, 2016, in Elkhart, Indiana to Kevin Mathenia and Sara Renee Sutherlin.  Jayleighana was a kindergartner at Beardsley Elementary School.  She enjoyed music (her favorite singer was jojo siwa), singing, dancing, doing tiktok videos with her older sister, swimming, playing mermaids or being at the park with her siblings, playing outside with her best friend and spending time with her family. 

     She loved being pampered and was considered to be HIGH MAINTENANCE.  She knew no stranger; she would talk to everyone.  She had a loving disposition, a playful spirit, and a wonderful sense of humor.  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. 

     Jayleighana is survived by: her parents, Kevin Mathenia and Sara Sutherlin, 6 siblings, Melina, Khevin, and Jayvion Mathenia of Elkhart, Letecia, Letonya and Rihanna Mathenia of Wyoming.  Additional survivors include her grandparents, Charles (Stacy) Gonyon Jr., Shane (Jessica) Shafer,Louis Patterson Jr.,and Elizabeth Brown of Elkhart, several great-grandparents, aunts and uncles, her god mother Chelsea J. Reasoner and many cousins. 

     A service for Jayleighana will be held at the World Harvest Church, 1610 S. Nappanee Street, Elkhart, IN 46516 on Saturday December 10, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.   Pastor Nate Calaway will render the service. A celebration of life gathering, and lunch will follow the service.
