ELKHART- Janice L. Smith, 92, of Elkhart, died Tuesday August 18, 2020 at her residence.  She was born October 29, 1927 in Rensselaer, Indiana to Leonard E. & Helen B. (Rose) Maxwell.

     On April 22, 1945 she married John Clifford Smith and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1987.  Surviving is a son Richard D. Smith of Elkhart; 3 grandchildren Ryan Smith, Kali Thornsbury, Austin Smith and 2 great-grandchildren, Dominick Thompson and Dylan Thompson.  She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Maxwell, her mother Helen Swain and 2 sisters, Doris, and Betty.

     Janice was a longtime member of the Grace Brethren Church in Elkhart and she enjoyed cooking, working in her flower garden, and sewing.  She worked for CTS Corp. in Elkhart for 8 years and was the secretary at grace Brethren Church for 3 years.

     Funeral service for Janice will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday August 24, 2020 at Waterman-Westbrook-Clouse Funeral Home.  Pastor Bob Kulp from the Grace Brethren Church will preside and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family for 2 hours prior to the service.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the Grace Brethren Church.
