April 7, 1937 – May 29, 2023
ELKHART- Janet Ann Truex, 86, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday May 29, 2023. Janet was born on April 7, 1937, in Elkhart, Indiana to Howard and Nina (Nicely) Monk. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1955. On December 22, 1957, she married the love of her life, Richard K. Truex, Sr. He preceded her in death on November5, 2011. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and 4 brothers, Glenn Monk, Raymond Monk, Weldon Monk, and Donald Monk.
Janet is survived by 2 daughters; Cristina Truex and Diana Purcell (Michael); 2 sons Richard K. Truex Jr. (Kimberly) and Gregory Truex (Alexis); 8 grandchildren; Mark Pierson, Tanya Pierson, Jillian Arnold (Brandon), Erika Howard (Jeremy), Noelle Truex, Lauren Truex, Victoria Truex and Jean Truex; 8 great-grandchildren: Kohl Pierson, Jayden Pierson, Kennedy Traxler, Harrison Arnold, Bronson Arnold, Baylen Howard, Charlotte Howard, and Savannah Howard; and her beloved fur baby, Maddie.
Janet was a lifelong resident of Elkhart. She retired from Whitehall Laboratories in 1992 after 25 years as a Customer Service Manager.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, antiquing, gardening and various crafts. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. on Friday June 2, 2023, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. The funeral service for Janet will start at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Vale from the First United Methodist Church in Middlebury will render the service and a private family burial will take place at Rice Cemetery.
Memorial gifts my be directed to the American Heart Association or the Elkhart County Humane Society.
