James “Jim” V. Clemens

January 20, 1943-September 8, 2020

ELKHART-James “Jim” V. Clemens, 77, passed away September 8, 2020 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born January 20, 1943 to James W. Clemens & Donna (Padman) Metzler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Cox.

Surviving are 2 children, Carrie (Nathan) Ehinger, Andrea Edds and 3 grandchildren.  Also surviving are 4 nieces and nephews, Stephen (Lana) Wright, Charles Wright, Deborah Wright, Robert (Christine) Wright and numerous other family members.

Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.   His hobbies were always motorized, from cars to motorcycles. He had a great group of friends that competed against each other doing thing like dirt bike riding in the trails of Michigan to motocross racing on local tracks.  Road riding his Harley Davidson out on the countryside made him feel free in the breeze.  Jim always had a huge love of Corvettes, classic cars, and vintage street rods. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association and the Good Guys receiving numerous awards showing off his latest shining project.  There also was a time of competing in drag racing with his 57 Chevy. You could always find him working on his cars in the garage or in the back of a barn making sure they ran to his liking. The earlier he got started in the morning meant he had more time to enjoy cruising or competing with his friends.   He also enjoyed, card playing, billiards, fishing, and the challenging game of golf.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 11 a.m. celebration of life service Friday, September 18, 2020 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Inurnment will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery with Military Honors.
