Jacqueline Campbell Obituary

Jacqueline Mae “Jackie” Campbell

July 28, 1932 ~ May 2, 2022

Jackie was born in 1932 in Waukegan Il. as the eldest of 6 sisters. Times were hard but laughter and joy came easy being raised by her fun-loving, hard-working extended family of grandparents, aunts, and uncles on Chicago’s north side.  As a teenager her family moved to Elkhart and while she missed her friends and family in Chicago, she faced the transition like everything else she did in life with a will to conquer obstacles and fill her life with happiness and joy.  While in high school she defined what she loved and valued for the rest of her life.  Her friendships lasted a lifetime, her deep appreciation for music and dancing carried through until the day she left us.  She was a stunning beauty with an outstanding personality, everyone loved to be with Jackie.  She proudly played the bass violin in the orchestra, she was a Rah Rah Girl and she danced, oh how she danced right into her greatest passion in life. It was a Friday night in 1948 at the YWCA dance that she met her destiny and her life’s passion, her man Billie.  The day after she turned 18 years old, they married and began life’s journey together in marriage for 70 years on earth. As a police officer’s wife, she felt honored and pride and supported her husband through 50+ years of police work.  She was a loving and fun Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  Jackie and Billie loved to travel every year and every holiday to see friends and family beginning with frequent trips to Chicago and soon annual driving and train trips to California. She enjoyed visiting her daughter in Australia and traveling on Mother & Daughter trips to Europe also Caribbean and Mexican vacations with family and friends. Of all the homes she lived in her favorite was “The Farm” in Bristol. This is where she lived next door to her grandson, prepared fabulous Roast Beef & Yorkshire pudding dinners and was able to begin to perfect her golf game.  As an active member of Christiana Creek Golf Club, she was a fierce competitor and became a championship golfer playing in many local tournaments throughout Michiana. As a matter of fact, on May 2nd, she once again met her most beloved golf partner, Billie for their 11:52 tee time in heaven.

She is survived by her three daughters, Jody Kisel (Estero, FL), Billie Jan Campbell (Noosa, QLD Australia), Jennifer (Tim) Ball (Bristol In.) and the light of her life, her grandson Justin (Deanna) Foster and her precious great grandchildren Caden and Isla Foster. Her three sisters, Patricia Patrick (Merced, Ca.), Deborah MacDonald (Dr. Timothy) Charlottesville, Va., Christine Patrick (Chico, CA) as well as many nieces and nephews throughout the Midwest and West Coast.

Predeceased by her adoring and passionate husband, lover and father of her children Billie Campbell, her father, Carl Thorup, her mother, Alice Patrick her stepfather, Chauncey Patrick, her sisters Doris (Dee) Glanders, Claran Schrock, Mary Graff.
