ELKHART- Jack R. Friedman, 71, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away Tuesday May 28, 2024, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.  He was born July 2, 1952, in Bloomington, Illinois to Louis & Rose (Kuhn) Friedman.

     On June 23, 1984, in Elkhart, Indiana he married Phyllis Jean McKienzie.

She survives along with his brother-in-law Michael F. McKienzie of South Bend, Indiana.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Donna M. Frantz and a brother-in-law Terry McKienzie.

     Jack was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army from 1972-1975 and was honorably discharged.  He graduated in 1971 from Elkhart High School and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from IUSB in 1982.

Jack enjoyed landscaping, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, bowling, and driving his corvette.  Jack was an animal lover and cherished his dogs.  Jack especially enjoyed going to the Green Jacket with his best friend of 60 years, Bill Zimmerman on Friday nights to have fish. 

     Jack worked in the RV Industry for many years as a cost accountant and did private tax returns for 50 years.

     Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held Friday June 14, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.  Pastor B.J. Leichty will preside.  The burial will be private at Oakridge Cemetery in Buchanan, Michigan.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
