Imogene “Genie” (Gibson) Gay

June 22, 1930 – June 10, 2024

Imogene "Genie" (Gibson) Gay passed away peacefully June 10, 2024, at the age of 93. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Mary Norwood, and four grandchildren, Kyle Norwood, Cody Norwood, Katie Norwood-Klingstedt (Matthew Norwood-Klingstedt), and Carly Norwood;

sisters Willie Jean Gwin, Mary Alberson, Diann Owen, and brother Dewayne Gibson.

She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on June 22, 1930, to William Robert and Willie Maude (Jones) Gibson. The oldest daughter of 12 children, Genie met Oldfield "Norwood" Gay in 1949. The couple was married on September 29, 1950, and had many adventures together for 72 years, until his passing in 2023.

Genie enjoyed reading, sun tea, sitting in her flower garden, reminiscing over photographs of loved ones, and entertaining family & friends. She will be remembered as a gracious hostess who prayed for hundreds of people throughout her life.

She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was the Jimtown Junior High School librarian for 32 years.

Genie loved the Lord and met her Savior, who she had served faithfully, face to face this week.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation (1:00pm) followed by a funeral service (2:00pm) on Saturday, June 15th. Both events will take place at Twin Branch Bible Church, 3807 Vistula Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.

Pastor Daniel Boes will render the service and burial will follow in Olive (West) Cemetery.

Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Twin Branch Bible Church.
