He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Michael MacMillan. Mac took great pride in his sobriety of 30 years in A.A., as well as his commitment in sponsoring others striving for sobriety. He spent many years in Ft. Wayne, IN living at the A.A. step house. He eventually moved back to Elkhart, IN to help his brother Tom take care of their father who had Alzheimer’s.
On his journey for sobriety, he found Jesus and lived his life loving Christ and keeping his faith strong and committed. He lived by the verse 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Mac loved playing board games, cards, and playing a good game of Yahtzee with Barb. He enjoyed watching the Vikings, MSU football and Nascar. He never missed a night of watching his favorite show Mash, and watching the Price is Right with Tom.
He had fond memories of camping and canoeing as a child with his brothers, sister and father. His best friend and brother Tom lived together over 20 years. Tom also, was Mac’s caregiver for many years. He loved spending time with his son Shawn, daughter-in-law Oly, and grandson Gavin. He also was very fond of his nephews Bryce and Matthew, living with them for the past 16 years. He was very proud of his family, and his greatest loves were his son and grandson.
Per his wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
