ELKHART-Harold “Skeet” A. Ellsworth, 92, passed away September 10, 2023, at the Cass County Medical Care Facility. He was born January 30, 1931, in Osceola, to John & Anna (McCloughan) Ellsworth.
On December 4, 1951, he married Bonnie Kirchner; she preceded him in death on May 27, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings and 1 great-grandson, Samuel Butler.
Surviving is 1 daughter Brenda Lee (Samuel) Butler, 2 grandsons, Steven Allen (Bonita) Butler, Samuel James Butler, 2 great-grandsons, Stephen Michael (Ashley) Butler, Seth Andrew Butler, 1 great-granddaughter, Jaime Michelle Butler and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 siblings, Betty Jo Moore, and Joan Besinger.
Skeet was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Ball Band/Uni-Royal in Mishawaka after of 40 years of employment. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, post 19 in Elkhart, where he was a commander for 2 years, and a lifetime member of the Osceola American Legion #308. Skeet also enjoyed watching NASCAR, elk hunting in Colorado, pheasant hunting in North Dakota, fishing and even winning many Bluegill tournaments, mushroom hunting, and hosting many euchre tournaments at his home.
Visitation will be held from 11-1 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2023, with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Mario Sims will preside and burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery with Military Honors.
