GREGORY LEE STEWART, SR.

June 9, 1961 – January 3, 2023

GRANGER, IN- Gregory Lee Stewart, Sr., 61, of Granger, passed away Tuesday January 3, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital.  He was born June 9, 1961, in Goshen, Indiana to Elvin E. & Doris M. (Doan) Stewart.

     Surviving is his mother, Doris M. Stewart of Granger, IN; 4 children, Gregory L. (Danielle Dawn) Stewart, Jr., of Cassopolis, MI, James Gregory Stewart, Leah Marie Stewart, Lee Alan Stewart all of Elkhart, IN; 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.  Also surviving are 4 siblings, Gary M. Stewart of Butler, IN, Rebecca A. Rheinheimer of Tustin, CA, David A. Stewart of Elkhart, Daniel R. Stewart of Granger, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Elvin E. Stewart and his sister, Diane K. Stewart.

     Gregory was a self-employed metal fabricator.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and splitting wood.  Greg also loved cooking chicken on the grill, NHRA drag racing and classic cars, especially his Dodge Dart. 

     Funeral services for Greg will be held at Noon Monday January 9, 2023, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Pastor Tom DeFries from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will preside, and burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. till the start of the service.
