GERALD LEONARD YACKS

May 31, 1936 – May 4, 2022

EDWARDSBURG, MICHIGAN- Gerald Leonard Yacks, 85, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, died Wednesday May 4, 2022, at his residence.  He was born May 31, 1936, in Bay City, Michigan to Gerald Wallace and Sadie Rose (Cunningham) Yacks.

     On October 12, 1957, in Bay City, Michigan he married Shirley Ann Sutter.

She survives along with 1 son, Gary Yacks of Elkhart, IN; 3 grandchildren, Lynsee Yacks, Krys (Allison) Yacks both of Elkhart, IN, Nykee (Frank) Gasko of Goshen, IN; 9 great-grandchildren and 3 brothers, John Yacks of Marana, AZ, Ron (Paulette) LaForest and Russ (Beverly) LaForest both of Bay City, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Ruby Dorian and Sandy Norling and a brother, Vern Yacks.

     Gerald was a US Marine Corps veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.

He retired in 1980 from General Motors and served for 8 years as a Mason Township Trustee.  Gerald lived for 10 years in Tucson, AZ and was a pet lover.

     Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service for Gerald will be held at a later date.  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart, Indiana is entrusted with his care.  Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
