Frederick Richard Dunfee Jr., 51, passed away Friday May 2, 2025 at the Center for Hospice Care Esthers House.  He was born May 28, 1973 in Elkhart, Indiana to

Frederick Richard Dufee Sr. and Sally Ann (Shea) Dunfee. 

Fred married his soulmate, Leila Dunfee, November 1, 2008 in Elkhart, Indiana. 

He is Survived by his wife Leila, his son, Gavin Dunfee and 2 daughters Reagan and Stacyann Dunfee, his grandson, Tatum Martin.  And his sister Evelyn (Jason) Ryman.

 He is preceded in death by his parents.

Fred graduated from Elkhart Central High school in 1991.

  Fred was in the army from 2005-2010. He was stationed at Fort Drum in New York. He deployed with 514th maintenance company to Iraq in 2007 and was injured by an IED explosion.

 He is a combat wounded Purple Heart recipient.

Fred served on the Concord Little League board for over a decade and also was voted President, but due to his cancer had to step down. He loved the park and loved helping to maintain the fields and serve his community. A field at the Concord Youth Ball field was recently named after him.

Fred started Michiana Impact in 2013 and has been running the travel softball program, which has 5 teams. He was a very beloved coach for 25 years and mentored many kids through his coaching career. He loved his softball community.  He recently started Impact Tournaments LLC and started running softball tournaments.

Fred courageously fought colorectal cancer for 10 years and fought hard until the very end. He is an amazing warrior, father, husband, brother, friend and coach. He will be missed so much by so many people.

  Due to his wishes, he was cremated.

   A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Omega Event Center, 2130 Middlebury Street, Elkhart, IN 46516.  Food and fellowship will be immediately following the service at the Omega Event Center.
