Elmer (Sonny) Frank Filley

August 9, 1929 – October 24, 2023

  Elmer (Sonny) Frank Filley, age 94, of Cassopolis, MI, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday October 24th, 2023.

  A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He was born in Chicago, on August 9th, 1929, the son of Elmer Frank Sr. and Lucille (Evans) Filley.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Edith Hertsel, Betty Carter, and Mary Hahn, along with two brothers, Jack and Robert Filley.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 56 years Janet (Berger) Filley, his son Scott (Rebecca) Filley of Granger, IN, his daughter Heide Filley of Grand Rapids and 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan, Shane, and Maddygan Filley and Adam Anderson.

  Sonny proudly served in the Army, stationed in South Korea during the Korean War.  He was a fixture at the Hayden-Beardslee Ford for over 40 years.  He enjoyed golfing being outdoors and spending time with his grandkids.

    Per his wishes, cremation will take place, and his ashes will be buried with Military Honors at Birch Lake Cemetery with close family only in attendance.  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
